Tommy and Polly Thomas
Tommy who worked in the IT industry for over 50 years is now assisting and consulting in the application of IT to business and community enterprises, preferably of an innovative nature and with no recompense.
He is publishing details of current activities on these Web pages and you are welcome to inspect them.
Polly is busy with her pastimes (patchworking and the U3A) and of course keeping Tommy under control and the household in good order.
In 2008 The University of Manchester awarded Tommy their Medal of Honour in recognition of his outstanding contribution to computing at the celebration to mark the 60th Anniversary of the birth of "The Baby" the small scale experimental machine which ran the its first program at The University of Manchester on 21 June 1948
Tommy's Ph.D. thesis was awarded in 1954 by the University of Manchester after submission of a thesis entitled "The Design and Construction of an Electronic Digital Computer".
His contribution to his profession has been recognised by the award of a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
